I'm confused, I'm a guy and I like girls but lately..... ok not that kind of confused lol.
What makes things "OP"? (my 1st post on the forums but I did read through them a while before signing on) I see people saying this and that thing is OP but how so?
Is it the fact that players have x named weapon appear when they kill you? Because from my perspective the person has invested gameplay/time training up the required skills to use said weapon proficiently so do I call that OP? No they've earned the right to use whatever they use so I respawn and get back out there thinking what can I train/do to maybe do something about it.
That pretty much covers the broad spectrum of things without picking stuff specifically so I'll just open it up a bit for disscusion;
Snipers, is it OP that someone that has trained up to snipe well so can kill me without me knowing about it untill I'm lay on the ground? No, I'll just take note of the shot indicator and look at the map before respawning to see if I can do anything about it. Again not the players fault if when I try to counter snipe my hits don't register because of terrain issues, they can't help that it's just one of those things that need a fix which I think is being improved on the 6th? so nothing I to do but move on.
Sharpshooter skill, I've noticed alot of talk about. Player A and player B come across each other player A has some sharpshooter player B does not, A trained for it so why is that OP? B should look into training it or just use cover to get closer if they can. I know there are open areas but that's the risk you take.
I know there are things that possibly could do with tweaking but I still believe that if someone has invested the time into training up for certain weapons or skills I'm not going to sit shouting OP at my screen just because I don't so is OP just a matter of opinion?
A little backstory about me just so you can get an idea of where I am coming from, My character to date has been around for 1 month and 6 days, I have with this triple SP deal 3.3million SP. (Also big thanks to CCP for that! and to the people complaining, oh CCP mislead us they didn't give us this or that, you got/are getting a boat load of extra SP for doing what you were going to do anyway so hush up and be grateful maybe) Now I did have a slight advantage because I bought the Starter and Mercenary pack to have some goodies to play about with but didn't realise you had to actually activate the booster untill some time after lol (derp), mainly just used the Aurum for militia BPO's though, I'm not a hardcore FPS player I just play for fun so started off as a Logi trying to help my team and picked up the shooting side as time went along, still not great but I do ok sometimes (K/D really doesn't interest me but it is nice when you see you have more K than D lol). I also didn't just load up the game and jump straight into battle I read through the skills available, looked at the items and watched some youtube videos to have some knoledge of the gameplay beforehand (is that OP too?) didn't do great think I did ok but stuck at it anyway. I'd also like to thank lowratehitman, Dust Fiend and CEOPyrex for making such videos available, cheers guys! and if anyone would like to link me some more to watch feel free to do so. I'm still in the starter corp and don't have a mic at the moment so tend not to join squads and run round somewhat like a chicken although I'd like to think not a headless one, I try and help anyone I see if playing Logi but I also use the suit for other stuff too so sorry if you see me come past as a Logi suit and I didn't fix you up.
Anything I may even slightly consider OP or a better way of saying it maybe more advantageous I feel can be overcome by knowledge, field awareness, common sense, team work and a chilled out attitude. Possibly running in and taking your chances like a crazy person too xD
So what is OP please?
Apologies if I offended anyone (aside from the ones moaning about tripple sp) or don't grasp the situation properly as a relatively new player. Thanks in advance also to any helpful responses, I would also ask that there be no flaming of peoples opinions but this is the internet...
I realise changes are coming but would still like to know anyway :)
After thought and I guess this bit is more of a sugestion but since it's in the same kind of category. Keeping new players from getting "pubstomped" (is that right?) by the "OP" stuff, simply have a seperate que for characters that are x days old or have x amount of SP to play and learn but optional to join so nothing is taken away if they choose to join the main games. Didn't really bother me starting out but I've seen talk about it. |
